Happy Birthday!

Guess who's turning 40? (I'll give you a hint, it's not the younger man on the left). Drop a comment on the blog, or an email our way, or even call and wish the birthday girl well.

She is an unbelievable mom, a great friend to many, a wonderful daughter, committed sister, a prayer warrior, woman of faith, caring doctor, always willing to lend a shoulder to cry on and a listening ear, an advocate of education and a purveyor of hope, tender-hearted, slow to anger, patient, kind, gentle, compassionate and the list really could go on for pages. On top of all that she's beautiful and my best friend!

I can truly echo the words of the blessed husband in Proverbs 31:29-31,
"There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!" Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.

What a special friend you are! How fortunate I am to have you in my life. You listen, you care, you give of yourself in so many ways.

I see you dressed in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. You are even-tempered, content, quick to forgive. And regardless of whatever else you wear, I see love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment and you wear it all the time. (Col 3 - the Message)

Your birthday is a chance to honour you - so be blessed, friend!

Dear Anola,
I wish you the very best from this moment on, as what you have behind you shows a life given in service and love.
The successes of your life as a whole are seen in your children and the way they light up round you. The love that Stew has for you, the devotion and dedication, the team that the two of you are...this too is an example of the success your life has been up to this moment.
May your tomorrows be more of the same. May God surprise you in wonderful ways and keep you on your toes.
More than anything, I wish for you in the coming year, a realization of how beautiful a person you really are, that you would see all you have to offer in your spirit, your smile, your sweet words.
I know nothing of you but you allowed me to see and hear at the womens' breakfast. I was so touched by your heart and your words.
Never underestimate the power of who you are because who you are is who God made you, and what a wonderful job He has done!!
Happy happy day!! Be blessed Anola.
From my heart...

Anola is a beautiful person inside and out. Her convictions run very
deeply, as she follows through and carries out whatever is on her heart to
do or say. We are very blessed that she is our friend, neighbor, 'auntie' to
our children, (and with Stew) legal guardian to our children. On a personal
note, along with everything I have just written, she is also my 'comrade'
and the interpreter of my dreams (and never has tired of hearing them). :)
She is the poster child for being true to herself and for loving her family.
The most prominent thing about Anola is her smile, which lights up a room
like a candle in a dark place. When Anola opens the door to her home, she
opens up the door to her heart and invites you in to comfort, peace, joy,
and love. How fitting that our Lord chose her to be born in this season
when so much of that has been lost. Anola makes everyone feel at home. She
is friendly, caring, and thoughtful. From all the Metcalfes, the happiest
of birthdays is wished for you this day! May the Father of Lights continue
to shine on you, in you, and through you,
with all our love,
Kev, Mel, Mikaela, Nastasia, and Aleksander.

Dearest Anola,
I am so thankful that God allowed our paths to cross so that we could walk side by side. Our friendship is a great blessing to me. When we are togather I feel understood and loved and I know that God hears our prayers that we offer up to Him. I hope that this year will be the best one that you have had so far. It could be you know.

Anola,

From one quadragenarian to another - Congratulations on being 40. I, too, took the plunge this year - and must stay that after you get used to it - the water's not that bad.

Glad to be one of the late-comers to the blog. What a blessing it is to have a husband that is so obviously devoted to you, and so many circles of friends and family that are celebrating with you.

It has been wonderful working with you in the Senior's clinic these past two years. Thank you for all that you do to "strengthen...the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees" (Isa 35:3)

Dear Anola,

I am so thankful for all the time you spent mentoring me. I really enjoyed getting to know you and found our time together very helpful. I really admire you and how you put your family first in everything! You are a wonderful example for me and other young Christian women! Hope you had a great birthday and remember, 40 is the new 30! And I am almost 30!

Well Anola!
It certainly has been a long time. And I imagine your birthday is long past and you are now used to being in your 40's...but I'll say it anyways. Happy Birthday!
I am grateful that God allowed my path to cross with yours and with Stu's. I look back on the "good old days" with fondness. We know that God continues to touch lives through you as He always has. We appreciate your servant heart.
And we miss you!
Love,
Colin, Alison, Hannah, and James Downie
