Habits
In truth, the only difference between those who have failed and those who have succeeded lies in the difference of their habits. Og Mandino
There are those who say it takes 21 straight days to create a new habit, while others say it takes at least 30, and some who claim nothing short of 60 is needed to reinforce a new habit. Whatever the actual number, it takes certainly some effort on our part but more than that the intention to make a change.
If as much as 95% of our behavior is made up of habit, it challenges us to become more aware of the habit making process.
Do you have some habits that are patterned after the life of Jesus? Indeed, are you in the process of aligning all of your life to His way? Do you yearn to have that type of intention for authentic living?
Or are you going through the motions, repeating past habits that, while they may not on the surface bring death, are not adding to the fullness of life that Jesus spoke about?
"Jesus, I will forsake my home, family, and future, but don't ask me to give up my favorite TV show! Or coffee!"
We first make our habits, and then our habits make us. John Dryden
Habit is a cable; we weave a thread of it each day, and at last we cannot break it. Horace Mann
